Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a permanent Key Stage 4 Coordinator of Mathematics to join a thriving and successful department. The Whitby High School is a successful 11-18 school with a strong focus on learning in all aspects of its work. There are 1500 students on roll, including 188 students in the Sixth Form. The school has extremely high aspirations for all staff and students and has a very positive attitude to change. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing our already successful Mathematics provision across Key Stage 4 and have a genuine interest in leading and transforming practice in Key Stage 4. You will have the vision and expertise to work alongside members of the Department to strengthen existing provision, and the ability to inspire students to achieve even higher standards by the end of the Key Stage.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Mathematics and other leaders to secure outstanding progress and attainment for our students.

In this role you will:

  • Join a dedicated team who have continually improved the quality of the teaching and learning and attainment#
  • Identify students across Key Stage 4 who are not making good progress and plan appropriate interventions
  • Play a critical role in leading our school to providing outstanding learning and progress
  • Support the Curriculum Leader closely in curriculum and assessment development in line with new exam specifications
  • Take an active role with raising achievement strategies
  • Receive excellent CPD and coaching
