Job overview

Lady Barn House School is a thriving independent day school for boys and girls aged 3 to 11. There are currently around 487 pupils on roll. The school offers excellent teaching, traditional values and exceptional pastoral care. There is a strong academic legacy with an individual focus on strengthening each pupil’s confidence and abilities. The school aims to ensure that each child is happy, challenged and able to take full advantage of life at Lady Barn House School with its many opportunities.

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced teacher to join our team of class teachers on a full-time permanent basis to start in September 2017. We anticipate the person appointed teaching in either Year 4 or Year 5/6. For information, Year 5 form teachers take their classes for two years to the end of Year 6.

At Lady Barn, form teachers take their class for Maths, English, and other subjects apart from those which are taught by specialists (Music, ICT, Science, PE/Games, Foreign Languages and Art/Design Technology). Since the school offers a broad PE and Games programme willingness and ability to contribute in this area will be welcome.

Application Procedure

Applications should include:

• A completed application form (CVs are not an acceptable alternative) including the names, addresses, e-mail and telephone numbers of two (and preferably three) professional referees, one of which must be your current employer.

• A letter of application addressed to the Head setting out why you are applying for the post and how you are a good fit for it in terms of your experience, knowledge, abilities and personal attributes.

Applications should be addressed to the Head, Mr Turner, and sent to Lady Barn House School, Schools Hill, Cheadle, SK8 1JE. Email applications may be sent to secretary@ladybarnhouse.stockport.sch.uk.

Closing date: Tuesday 21 March at 10am.

It is anticipated that interviews will be held on during week commencing Monday 27 March.

(We remind you that postage is now partly based on the size of an envelope. Insufficient postage is likely to delay delivery to us which might mean you miss the deadline.)

Prospective candidates who would like to visit the school prior to making an application are invited to contact the school. The dates set aside for this purpose are Monday 13 March at 4.30pm and Tuesday 14 March at 5pm. Please contact Mrs Gardner, Head’s PA, at the school to let us know that you would like to come or to see whether an alternative time might be possible.

The appointment will be subject to satisfactory medical checks and confirmation of academic qualifications. The post will be confirmed on receipt of all references and of a satisfactory outcome from an enhanced DBS check.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and all aspects of staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
