Eastwood Grange school is recruiting for a catering assistant to join their catering team!  We are looking for passionate people, who can support the provision of the catering operation assisting with basic food preparation and hygiene and who can promote healthy eating and contribute to the wellbeing of our Children and Young People. In this role, you will under direction, take responsibly for parts of the catering operation, ensure the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards and comply with the Company's Assured Safe Catering Policies and Procedures and assist the Chef with both the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with these.

Eastwood Grange School is a specialist day school located in the village of Ashover, near Chesterfield, for boys and girls aged 5-18 years.  The pupils exhibit a variety of severe and complex educational, social, emotional and mental health difficulties, which have impeded personal developmental and educational success.  Many of the pupils have a number of diagnoses.  Our pupils have failed in, or have been failed by, a variety of settings before coming to Eastwood Grange School. They arrive at Eastwood Grange very disengaged with education and life after having experienced many breakdowns and trauma.

Previous experience preparing and cooking meals gained within a professional kitchen environment along with the following characteristics:

Communication – Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs.  Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.

Organisation –You will need to be confident and organised in updating menus, dietary requirements and reporting information that will be relevant to the care of our young people.

Attentive – No young person is the same so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important.
