About Us

Due to continued growth and success, Hazel Grove High School is looking to appoint a pro-active and dedicated Kitchen Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Laurus Trust family, and to play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of the Trust. Support staff work tirelessly to ensure all services run smoothly and efficiently, enabling our teaching staff to focus on delivering an outstanding education for our students.

Main Responsibilities   

  • Undertake all cleaning tasks per the agreed cleaning specifications.  
  • Use all equipment, machinery and cleaning materials effectively and in accordance with safe working practices.  
  • Assist in the preparation and service of food ensuring food safety standards are adhered to.  
  • Assist with the setting up and putting away of dining room furniture.  
  • Receive deliveries and store goods safely.   
  • Report any faults with equipment, machinery or the building itself to the Cook in charge.  
  • Maintain good working relationships with staff, students and visitors.  
  • Respond appropriately to any minor queries or complaints, and relay any significant issues to the Cook in charge or Catering Manager for further action.  
  • Undertake such other duties appropriate to the post, as may be required.

Key Skills & Experience   

  • Ideally possess prior catering or food service experience  
  • An understanding of food preparation methods and food safety standards would be beneficial  
  • Sound educational background including GCSE’s in Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent  
  • Experience working in a school environment would be advantageous
