Thank you for your interest in our school.

Welcome from our Headteacher

Malet Lambert has a long and proud history, dating back to 1932. Originally a grammar school, it became a community comprehensive school in 1968 and has remained true to the values of comprehensive education ever since. Today, we are proud to be a large, ambitious and inclusive secondary school at the heart of our community with 1700 pupils on roll.

Having taught in a number of schools and held senior leadership positions before joining Malet Lambert, I am immensely proud to lead this school and to be at the forefront of its everyday life.

I joined Malet Lambert in 2014 as Deputy Headteacher before becoming Headteacher in 2016. Over that time, I have developed a deep understanding of our pupils, our staff and the community we serve. I remain incredibly proud of the progress the school has made and, just as importantly, of the culture and values that underpin everything we do.

At Malet Lambert, we believe that every pupil matters. From our thorough transition programme in Year 6, through the many opportunities and experiences pupils enjoy during their time with us, to the close mentoring and support provided as they approach their public examinations in Year 11, we place the needs, aspirations and individual circumstances of our pupils at the heart of our work.

We have high expectations of every pupil and are committed to helping them fulfil their potential. We want our pupils to achieve academically, but we also want them to develop the confidence, character, resilience and independence they need to succeed beyond Malet Lambert. We achieve this by providing a safe, purposeful and vibrant learning environment, underpinned by excellent teaching, strong relationships and a genuine commitment to inclusion.

We are fortunate to have an exceptionally caring, skilled and dedicated team of teachers and support staff, alongside committed governors. They are professionals who care deeply about our pupils and who understand the responsibility we have to give every young person the very best opportunities.

Our comprehensive ethos is central to who we are. We celebrate the individuality of our pupils and recognise that success looks different for different young people. We are ambitious for all, whatever their starting point, background, strengths or challenges, and we work hard to ensure that every pupil can participate, contribute and succeed.

Being part of The Education Alliance (TEAL) since 2016 has further strengthened our school. Working alongside other successful schools provides us with opportunities to share expertise, learn from one another and continually improve what we do for our pupils.

Malet Lambert has enjoyed some excellent examination results over the years and we are rightly proud of our pupils' achievements. However, our success is about much more than examination results. We are committed to providing a broad and balanced curriculum, rich opportunities beyond the classroom and strong pastoral care. We want our pupils to leave us with both the qualifications and the personal qualities that will enable them to thrive in their next steps.

Our pastoral provision is a particular strength. We know our pupils well and have continued to develop the systems, relationships and support that enable them to feel safe, valued and ready to learn. We expect pupils to work hard, treat others with respect and take pride in themselves and their school.

Our aim is simple: to provide an education that combines traditional values with contemporary aspirations and creative curiosity. We want every pupil to leave Malet Lambert believing that they can achieve great things and equipped with the knowledge, skills and character to do so.

I hope that you enjoy finding out more about our school and discovering what makes Malet Lambert such a special place to learn and work.

Thank you for looking us up.

Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or would like to come and visit us. Please contact Mollie Poskitt, HR Officer on 01482 374211 or by email via Mollie.Poskitt@Maletlambert.hull.sch.uk
