Job overview

Walthamstow Primary Academy is part of United Learning, a large and growing group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England. Schools within United Learning work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. By collecting expertise and combining resources, we help to make the tough job of teaching a little easier. With a shared curriculum and lesson plans from around the group available to all, our teachers have strong foundations to lead the engaging, rounded education our children deserve.

Our intranet site, United Hub, is just one example of how we share this resource and communicate across sites, helping to simplify processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. We reward our staff: with wide career opportunities – between Primary and Secondary, Academy and Independent – better pay, benefits, and ultimately the satisfaction of helping every child at each of our schools to succeed and reach their full potential.

Do you want to be part of an ambitious, dynamic and energetic primary team? Would you relish the chance to build a primary school from scratch? Do you believe that every child can exceed age-related expectations? Are you driven by a desire to transform the lives of children from disadvantaged backgrounds?

Our school opened in September 2015 with our first Reception cohort and we are growing each year until we reach full capacity. We are currently 1FE and will move to 2FE in a couple of years, after we move into our brand new, state of the art, school building. We are a small, kind and caring staff team. We are always supportive of one another and want to see every adult and child in our school reach their potential. As we are growing each year, there are numerous opportunities for professional development.

We have a vacancy for a class teacher.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Wants to make a difference to our children’s lives
  • Works incredibly hard in term times and then makes the most of their school holidays
  • Plans and teaches exciting sequences of lessons
  • Understands how important marking and feedback are to helping children make progress
  • Treats everyone with respect and contributes to the lovely atmosphere in our school
  • Enjoys our school commitment to taking our children on an educational visit at least six times a year
  • Wants to take on an area of subject leadership (all our teachers and support staff have an area of responsibility)
  • Has experience of teaching within EYFS or KS1

We can offer you:

  • Has experience of teaching within EYFS or KS1Plenty of opportunities for professional development, within our school and our Trust. We offer NPQML and NPQSL, as well as opportunities for coaching and mentoring in school and within our network of schools
  • Opportunities to work with other EYFS/KS1 teams in our London cluster of schools
  • RWI phonics training, if you haven’t already had it
  • An experienced, friendly and supportive SLT, with a Headteacher who led her previous school to Outstanding
  • At least 6 additional PPA days a year
  • An opportunity to work in a charitable organisation that is focused on improving the lives of disadvantaged children; the core value of the Trust is “the best in everyone”

If you want to work in an environment where you will really make a difference, WPA is for you. Why not come for a visit and meet our team and our children? You can book a visit by emailing our Business Manager, Alison Perisic, at alison.perisic@walthamstowprimary.org.uk.

Closing date: Monday 5 June 2017

As an all-inclusive school, the academy's places are open to children of all backgrounds and abilities. The admissions arrangements are in line with those of the London Borough of Waltham Forest, and children with Education, Health and Care plans that name the academy are admitted first.
