Job overview

If, for you...

There is more than one way to teach a child

To be trusted, challenged, seen and heard is as important for teachers as it is for children

When you are not happy you would rather speak and act

A considered question can reveal as much as a considered answer

Your mind willingly turns to your teaching when you come across a great idea

It is important to know where you stand, where you're heading and that you'll be supported and encouraged to get there

It's a good time to look at things a little differently

There is never enough time to do all you'd like to

Things not going to plan soon moves from a cause for concern to a cause for action

Telling someone something brilliant that a child has said or done is fun to do

The world is both big and small

Learning from children is a regular occurrence (if a little cringeworthy to say out loud)

...then please consider applying for the position of KS2 Class Teacher at our school.

"Pupils and parents say that the school community feels like a family | Pupils behave extremely well and…are keen and enthusiastic learners" (Ofsted, 2018)

Based in Holland Park, West London, SIAL is a bilingual, bicurricular and bicultural Italian and English Primary School and Nursery.  We are small, unique and family-centred, with classes capped at 16, a teaching assistant for each class from Year 1 upwards and comparatively generous time for planning, preparation and assessment thanks to our specialists in Physical Education, Art, Music and Drama.

Our timetable is structured:

1) so that there is room to be based in Year 6 (cross-curricular teaching) or

2) to enable opportunities to weight your teaching time in accordance with your passions and specialisms through cross-class teaching, especially in Mathematics, Science and Computing and potentially in upper KS1 too.

"The routinely outstanding teaching enables pupils to make substantial progress" (Ofsted, 2018)

We follow both the English and Italian national curricula, are governed by the charity La Scuola Italiana a Londra and are registered with both Ofsted and the Italian government.

"The curriculum makes a very strong contribution to pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural…[and] personal development and their understanding of modern life in Britain and beyond" (Ofsted, 2018)

Please note that you do not need to be able to speak/understand Italian to be considered, but this knowledge, however small, would naturally be of benefit (for us and for you).

You can find out more at  https://sial.school or by giving us a call on 020 7603 5353.

"Leaders have created a culture where pupils and members of staff feel valued and committed to the school’s vision" (Ofsted, 2018)

If SIAL is somewhere you can see yourself enjoying working and you wish to apply for this position, please complete the attached application form and email it to info@sial.school by noon on Monday 20th May.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

At SIAL we are highly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children; child protection screening will therefore apply to this post.
