About Benthal Primary School

Benthal Primary School is an inspiring, inclusive and friendly two-form entry primary school in the heart of our vibrant and culturally diverse community, connecting Stoke Newington and Clapton in Hackney. Our school has been recognised by Ofsted as “Good” following a recent inspection in September 2016.

Benthal fosters a happy and calm learning environment, enabling children to develop as Learners, Achievers and Friends, our motto.

We have 420 pupils who come from culturally diverse backgrounds, with many languages spoken within the community. Benthal is a popular primary school and has full classes in most year groups and the EYFS and SEND provision is at the core of the school’s commitment ensuring every child matters.

Benthal has an excellent, highly experienced and caring staff team with many outstanding teachers, and a fantastic learning support and teaching assistant team. The Headteacher has the support of two deputies and a strong team of middle leaders.

The school is also supported by an enthusiastic and well-resourced parent body ‘Friends of Benthal’ who arrange inspiring school community events throughout the school year. This collaboration with the parents enables greater engagement with the wider community to provide new learning opportunities.

We have very large grounds compared to other schools in the borough, which provide opportunities for the children to learn outside of the classroom and link the curriculum to the real world. These extensive school grounds are a huge asset and could be used even more effectively to support the children’s learning.
