Job overview

How would you like to be paid for five days but only work four*?

Our colleagues’ wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do at OFG, so we’re always looking for new ways to improve everyone’s work/life balance. We’re taking part in a trial of the 4-Day Working Week, meaning that you could be working one day less a week (or equivalent).

4DWW will be rolled out within our school, when we have a full complement of staff, and within the next year – so there’s never been a more exciting time to join us #teamOFG!

Job title:      KS2 Lead Teacher

Location:     Smallbrook School, Shrewsbury

Salary:       £35,000 - £40,000 per annum

Hours:       37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract:     Permanent, Term Time only

UK applicants only. This role does not offer sponsorship.

Due to growth in service, we are looking for an experienced KS2 Lead Teacher to join our fantastic team at Smallbrook School.

About the role

We are looking for a creative, active and open-minded KS2 Lead Teacher to join our family feel team. You must have a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring even the most challenging of minds and behaviours. We are looking for candidates, who want to get involved, have their ideas heard, aren’t afraid of getting dirty on the farm or in workshops and who are resilient, active and caring.

  • To play a key role in the development of SEN provision within Smallbrook School;
  • To work with schools, parents, key agencies and the young people with SEN to ensure effective and successful inclusion of pupils including those with a diagnosis of ASC within Smallbrook School;
  • To support the development of teaching approaches, behaviour management, classroom strategies, resources and whole school policies for children with complex needs and diagnoses within the school.
  • To initiate and model autism specific teaching strategies for Teachers/Teaching Assistants in conjunction with Smallbrook School’s therapy team, relating to individual pupils within the classroom and whole school;
  • To enable access to learning and social opportunities for pupils with SEN through the delivery of teaching, support, families and the young person;
  • To work with key partners in Smallbrook School’s therapy service (Speech and Language Service, Psychotherapy and Educational Psychology) in order to deliver and implement a multi-disciplinary approach to support individualised packages for young people with SEN;
  • To support the SLT and therapy team in the continued successful development of supporting young people with complex diagnoses such as ASC / Attachment Disorder within the school environment.

Ideally, you will be a creative thinker and be able to turn the core curriculum into a fun and engaging subject. There will be usual classroom lessons but also an expectation to use an alternative teaching approach on the farm and in workshops. Previous experience with Special Educational Needs (SEN) isn’t essential but it is preferred. If you have no experience, please research Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) and the challenges it presents.

We are looking for qualified teachers for this position, PGCE or QTLS.
