Haywood Grove School SEMH Special School, Hemel Hempstead KS2 Primary Classroom Teacher (MPS Scale according to experience + SEN point) Haywood Grove is a special school for primary aged children with social and emotional difficulties.  We believe we have developed a unique approach to supporting children who exhibit challenging behaviour. At Haywood Grove our children are given the freedom to explore their emotions and existing social behaviours so that these can be unlearnt and adapted by modelling, coaching or teaching alternative and more appropriate behaviours. We believe that our children can learn to self-regulate and become less reliant on the external control found in traditional systems of sanction and reward.

  • We have a passionate conviction that all children can achieve no matter what they have experienced or done previously
  • We start with the child and develop learning opportunities that fit around them rather than expecting them to fit within a rigid and narrow model of learning
  • We are creative and look for new and different ways to engage children with learning so that they are able to progress
  • We have high expectations of every child and accept no restriction on what is possible for all children in your care

Haywood Grove School is looking for a like-minded, professional and committed class teacher who is ambitious and keen to gain further experience in the field of SEN and progress in their teaching career. Applicants will be expected to offer curriculum expertise. We welcome colleagues who are newly qualified, from mainstream settings, or those already working within the field and offer an on-going hi-quality package of support through induction and internal and exernal specialist CPD.  Visits to the school before application are strongly encouraged and warmly welcomed.  www.haywoodgrove.co.uk Our school is committed to keeping our children safe, and therefore an enhanced DBS will be required for this post.
