Job overview

KS2 Teacher

Full-time • Permanent

Required From 1 September 2017

A KS2 teacher is required to develop literacy and numeracy in students who are not yet deemed 'secondary ready'.

We are looking to appoint a teacher with experience in the methodologies and pedagogy of primary schools to work with some of our Key Stage 3 children, in very small groups, to assist them in becoming secure in the literacy and numeracy skills commensurate with the completion of Key Stage 2 for the majority of students.

We are focused on getting the very best outcomes for all of our students across the academic ability range and as such we are looking for a primary trained teacher, to help develop and then deliver, what we feel is an exciting new initiative. At our school, we have a constant mantra of ‘parity for all’ and for this reason we have developed a programme called ReadySteadyGo to enable low prior-attaining students to gain confidence and make rapid progress in literacy and numeracy.

We are also keen that you will be able to assist with Year 6 to 7 transitions (both socially and academically) and is willing to team-teach with secondary trained colleagues in literacy and numeracy to further assist the students not yet deemed secondary ready.

You will have a strong track record of teaching and student progress within a successful primary school as a KS2 teacher but NQTs who have shown excellence through their training period are also encouraged to apply. This post could be a fantastic development opportunity for a teacher who wants to use the skills they have honed, in a new setting with a new age range. You must be a teacher who gets delight and joy from the ‘eureka’ moments of teaching and must be passionate about getting them on a regular basis!

You will be part of our dynamic and innovative ‘Pupil Premium’ team and will benefit from the support and line management of an influential and successful senior leadership colleague.

You would be joining a successful Multi Academy Trust that received a very positive Ofsted report (March 2014) with both the Behaviour and Safety of pupils and the Leadership and Management of the school deemed to be outstanding. The report highlights the supportive atmosphere, "Staff have a very positive view of the school, for example one stating that 'this is an incredible place to work' and 'I have never worked in a place where I feel so supported and inspired by people around me - students and staff."

If you would like to become part of our on-going success story, we would love to hear from you.

Please be aware that we can only consider applications submitted using the available form.

Closing date: Noon on Friday, 28th April 2017.

Interviews are planned as soon as possible after that date.

All appointments will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

About Saltash Community School

OVERVIEW

The school is a mixed 11 to 18 comprehensive school established in its present form in 1968. The school converted to Academy Status in April 2011, and became part of a Multi Academy Trust (SMART) with one of its partner primaries, Landulph, in January 2014. The SMART family expanded in 2016 to include Liskeard and Looe Secondaries along with Dobwalls and Trewidland Primaries. Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, it occupies a 13 acre site overlooking Plymouth Sound and the Tamar, Tavy and Lynher rivers.

We serve our partner primary schools in the town, the rural primary schools at Landulph and St Germans as well as an increasing number of students from Plymouth and further afield in Cornwall.

We are proud of our livestock area containing pigs, rabbits, ducks, chickens and goats along with several allotments which enhance provision in many curriculum areas.

Our extensive sports fields, including a superb floodlit all-weather pitch, are amongst the best in the county, enabling us to offer a wide range of different sports to our students and local community.
