Denton West End Primary School, based in Denton, Manchester, first opened in 1931 for children aged three to 11, with 54 pupils on the roll. In 1961 a junior school was built, owing to popular demand, and both schools merged under the same name.
In 2013, the primary school was converted into an academy. There are currently 463 pupils on roll in the mixed-gender school.

Denton West End Primary School aims to promote a healthy lifestyle by teaching children good eating habits. Each pupil receives fruit and vegetables on a daily basis. It also encourages children to take care of the environment. Every month the students’ eco-committee meets to discuss new environmental issues.
The vision of the school is to aim for excellence, by giving each child an outstanding educational experience. Denton West End’s core values include confidence, caring, staying positive and working as a team.

“Pupils feel safe and behave well. They show courtesy and respect for one another and adults. Relationships across school are positive between adults and pupils and this contributes to the happy atmosphere. The subjects taught provide pupils with a wide range of visits and visitors which help and extend their learning further. The new headteacher has a clear ambition to improve the school further and is effectively supported by the deputy headteacher and other leaders.”
