Job overview

We are looking for a passionate and inspirational KS2 teacher with particular experience or interest in teaching Maths. The successful candidate will be required to teach some Maths to KS3 (Year 7 and 8), but will have pastoral responsibility for a KS2 class. Applicants should have a love for learning, and an enthusiasm for Maths in a dynamic and flexible environment. Those who wish to apply should be interested in working in a school that values pupils in a holistic way- academic, creative and pastoral elements are all equally weighted at Dunhurst.

Bedales Prep, Dunhurst is a unique educational establishment, set in the beautiful Hampshire countryside. Our aim is to create an environment where questioning, divergent thinking and freedom to learn from mistakes are all encouraged. Central to our success is the sense that each person is a member of our community whose voice is entitled to be heard and treated with respect. Both our staff and pupils expect of each other the best kind of relationships – co-operative, authentic and trustful.

Experience & Background

An inspirational and encouraging teacher, you will have a good degree or equivalent qualification in a related field. We would consider both experienced teachers and NQTs for this post if the candidate demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of our ethos. You should also be keen to play a role in the life of our busy boarding community, and be able to contribute to the development of our innovative school. A team player with good communication skills, you will have an enthusiastic approach in all of your dealings with pupils, colleagues and parents.

Timetable

You will be timetabled to teach 30 lessons a week. Learning takes place throughout the day and encompasses tutoring, co-curricular activities, support and extension sessions as well as subject lessons. Most core curriculum commitments for pupils are scheduled from 08:50 hrs to 17:30 hrs on Monday to Friday, and until 13:00 hrs on Saturday (for year 7 and 8). Pupils also have access to optional activities before and after the main school day. Typically, pupils do not have core curriculum lessons scheduled on Wednesday afternoons. Teachers who have lessons allocated on a Saturday morning have an allocated half day in lieu during the week. Bedales Prep,  Dunhurst is a busy boarding school so work during the evenings, weekends and holidays may be required depending on the nature of the post.

This post is Regulated Activity.
