Job overview

Vision for Education are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist educational provision for students with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH), many of whom have involvement from other agencies, such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Social Services and the Child, Youth and Community Tribunal. As a school, they aim to ensure that the needs of students with SEMH and behavioural difficulties are met, with a focus on social and academic achievement.

They are seeking an innovative and dynamic Key Stage 3 and 4 English teacher with experience of successfully enabling children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties to fulfil their potential. You will have the ability to build excellent relationships, have high expectations of students, and have resilience in managing the significant demands of working with some of the most challenging students in the area. Applications from NQT’s with a passion for working in this field are also welcomed.

With an understanding of strategies and systems which promote successful learning and positive behaviour, you will be confident in the use of target setting, monitoring and assessment procedures that are an integral part of a professional approach to behaviour management.

Furthermore, you will have a strong empathy with a desire to meet the needs of our students. An understanding and awareness of personal and social skills work is also desirable.
