Job overview

Role: KS3 Class Teacher (two positions)

Status: Full time, Permanent

Salary Scale: AAT Teacher Scales + SEN 1

Longspee Academy is a thriving learning community, successful in providing outstanding education, care and support for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, typically alongside Autism. Further to partnership working between AAT and BCP (the Local Authority), Longspee Academy will be opening the Longspee Ensbury Park Campus following the Easter Break. As part of transition planning we will be opening to a small number of students during this academic year, with a growth strategy over 2021/2022 toward being a 54-place (when full) secondary school for students who present with SEMH/ASC.

In support of this exciting development and, beginning in the Summer Term 2021, Longspee Academy is seeking to appoint two dynamic, outstanding, secondary (initially KS3) practitioners who are looking for a rewarding role totally focused on improving the life-chances of our learners. We are looking for candidates who are passionate and ambitious, with a drive and commitment to ensure a cohesive high quality of education that will benefit all students. The ideal candidate will have strong SEND (SEMH/ASC) teaching experience and, will work naturally within approaches that support trauma-informed practice and unconditional positive regard, alongside the SPELL Framework.

Longspee Ensbury Park Campus (LEPC) will open for the Summer 2021 Term within a building which has been most recently known as Bournemouth Learning Centre (BLC). Initially constructed as a school, site works will be completed at BLC to ensure a high-quality learning environment for students with SEMH/ASC.

The successful candidate will be part of an initially small but growing team at LEPC, with an opportunity to demonstrate excellence and develop professionally and personally, fully supported by AAT and best practice for Secondary SEMH/ASC learning. We will offer you the opportunity to become part of an ambitious team, working in partnership with colleagues from specialist and mainstream contexts to develop learning pathways and community/curriculum links in the local area. LEPC will embed the overall core values and share our inspirational mantra “Happy, Safe, Progress” across Longspee Academy.

In order to be successful in this role:

o You will be enthusiastic, motivated and resilient to challenges

o You will be committed to success, being prepared to meet all needs as presented by students

o You will be a practitioner of high standard, with strong (and proven) Secondary knowledge: as a KS3 teacher at LEPC, you will be required to teach across the subject areas (including English and Maths), being able to use specialist subject knowledge across the school, as required

o You will be able to demonstrate leadership skills, and inspire trust as part of the school community

o You will be able to work successfully with a range of agencies beyond the school

o You will promote the vision and values of Ambitions Academies Trust at all times
