Job overview

The Bridge School is a Pupil Referral Unit for KS3 & KS4 students who are either having difficulty maintaining their high school education, or whom are permanently excluded. The School requires an outstanding Teacher who can deliver short to medium term development programs to KS3 students and support specific learners who are unable to engage with onsite lessons. Applications from Primary or Cross Phase trained teachers will be particularly welcomed, as are those from teachers who are currently in post. Our students exhibit social, emotional and mental health issues and therefore we require a member of staff competent and skilled in supporting these areas, as well as being an enthusiastic and competent teaching practitioner.

This Teacher will support in the development and delivery of intervention sessions and the Key Stage 3 curriculum that will support the individual specific needs and abilities each student has regarding their literacy and numeracy, alongside developing their social skills and emotional resilience. As such, they will be able to competently deliver a range of subjects in an engaging and stimulating way. They will be highly developed in terms of their teaching ability, being able to accurately assess need, deliver teaching reflective of need, and measure targeted incremental progress, in order that students are prepared for transition and integration into their next appropriate phase of education. You will be required to have outstanding group and individual management and communication skills.

This is a fundamentally important role for The Bridge School, and the community of high schools in the Authority, and one that will develop as the needs of the schools within the borough develop.

If you think you have the energy, skill and determination to fulfil this role, and you want to contribute to an already vibrant school community please contact the Head Teacher, Nigel Hunt. He will be happy to speak to you in detail about the post.

You should note that, if successful you will be required to obtain a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check or Enhanced DBS Check for Regulated Activity (formerly Criminal Records Bureau). Further information about DBS checks can be found at www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check
