We are seeking to appoint for Easter 2023 an outstanding practitioner and a dynamic and inspirational teacher with a proven track record of raising standards of attainment in modern foreign languages. You will demonstrate vision, leadership qualities, management skills and the desire and commitment to lead a specialist team. You will also make languages exciting and relevant to the future of our pupils. We welcome applicants with any combination of languages, but especially Spanish and French.

You will take a lead role within the Modern Foreign Languages department, working alongside colleagues to deliver the curriculum. The role will include the development of the KS4 scheme of work in line with new examination criteria, examination preparation, creating and sharing resources for KS4, and updating the student data spreadsheets, alongside undertaking observations of KS4 lessons. Leading by example, you will provide motivation and inspiration to both staff and students.

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Be a strong team player with a real drive and ambition
  • Be determined to make a difference and have the highest expectations for our pupils
  • Have a strong record of examination results at KS4
  • Have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils and staff
  • Have successfully managed an area of MFL
  • Use your love of MFL, along with excellent coaching and mentoring abilities, to collaboratively build a culture of academic excellence in MFL, in which every child believes they can succeed
  • Have a previous record of outstanding Teaching and Learning
  • Be committed to continuing to raise standards in the MFL Curriculum Area
  • To drive the vision for the MFL Curriculum Area
  • Evaluate and improve Teaching & Learning
  • Ensure the sharing of outstanding practice
  • Use data effectively to track, monitor and evaluate pupil progress in KS4
  • Plan and implement effective intervention to support all pupils to achieve highly
  • Continue to develop a learning community
  • Be committed to the school’s Christian values and ethos

Woodchurch High School is a very successful, over-subscribed co-educational Church of England Academy.  There are over 1400 pupils on roll, who are supported by 114 teaching staff and  over 120 support staff.
