Job overview

Immanuel College is a successful and oversubscribed 11-18 Church of England secondary school of 1669 students, including an expanding sixth form, which serves the communities around the northern border between Leeds and Bradford. We are fortunate to work in modern school buildings which have helped transform the learning opportunities that are available to our students and the community.

Our vision is to become a fully-inclusive and outstanding learning community and we are well on our way to achieving this. OFSTED graded us a ‘Good’ school in January 2019.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a KS4 Learning Development Centre Tutor to join our busy team.

The successful candidate will:

  • To work closely with others, contributing to the support of targeted students (pastoral systems, learning mentors, external agencies etc).
  • To develop and manage bespoke learning programmes designed to enable all students to engage productively with the mainstream curriculum and work towards recognised qualifications.
  • To establish intervention strategies, which will include careful analysis of students own strengths, areas for development/needs, preferred learning styles and environmental/ SEN factors influencing behaviour and learning.

We are a friendly and supportive team and staff development opportunities will be made available to the successful candidate.

The closing date for applications will be 9am on Friday 9 June 2023, with interviews being held over the following seven days.

Headteacher

Mr S Mulligan

Values and vision

At Immanuel College, it believes that we are ‘All God’s Children’. It also believes that the school, through its distinctive Christian character, is outstanding at meeting the needs of all learners. They feel that the impact of Collective Worship on the school community, the effectiveness of R.E. and the leadership and management of the school as a Church school is outstanding. A Christian ethos is at the heart of the school life; Immanuel means ‘God with us’ and the school believes that ‘God is with us here at Immanuel’.

Ofsted

“Most teaching is good and results in students making good progress in Key Stages 3 and 4 and post-16. Standards in English have improved quickly and are close to the national average. In science they are above average. The sixth form is good. Courses are carefully matched to students’ needs and interests. The school is led strongly by the headteacher. She is well supported by the senior team and by other leaders.”
