Job overview

An exciting opportunity has opened up for a Laboratory Technician to join our Science department at Culford School. Previous experience is not required but good organisational and administrative skills, and the ability to closely follow instructions, are essential. Previous experience of the British Educational system would also be beneficial. As well as providing direct support to the Head of Biology, the Laboratory Technician will service and maintain the laboratories, preparation room, equipment and materials to ensure their safe and efficient use for all science subjects. This role would be ideal for those who have an interest and passion for science, or those who would like to be further involved in the Culford community.

The role is permanent, and will be contracted for 40.25 hours per week during term time (33 weeks per annum). These hours will generally consist of Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 16:15 (1 hour lunch break) and Saturday, 08:15 - 12:15; however a certain amount of flexibility will be expected to suit the needs of the School. The successful candidate will also be required to work 30 hours per week for 7 weeks outside of term time, by arrangement of the line manager.

Applications should be made using the Culford School online application form, found here; http://www.culford.co.uk/Application-Form

Please submit a CV and Covering Letter while completing the online form. If technical issues prevent you from doing so, please send them via email to 'HR at culford.co.uk'

Closing date for applications: applications will be processed as they are received, and as such, the vacancy may close at any point, on successful appointment of a candidate

About Culford School

Established in 1881, Culford School is a co-educational, all-through, independent school in the town of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. Offering places to around 700 pupils aged 1-18, the selective school sits on a large plot of rural land and boasts a mix of 18th-century buildings and modern teaching facilities.

Although the majority of Culford’s children are day pupils, the school offers boarding facilities for prep and senior pupils. Prospective students are expected to pass examinations across a broad range of subjects. The precise nature of the admissions procedure differs depending on the age of the child applying for entry.
