Opportunities to join the Board of the Laidlaw School Trust

Laidlaw Schools Trust is looking to encourage three individuals, who have a passion for education, to join the Board of Trustees at a hugely exciting time in the development of our Multi Academy Trust.

We are reaching out for people who are like-minded in our belief that outstanding education holds the key to success in life and that every single child should be given all opportunities to achieve their very best. We are passionate about educating children from as young as possible and creating a path from cradle to career which develops young people to become model citizens who will contribute fully to our society. We are fervent in our desire to leave no child behind and ensure that we support our communities and in particular those who are underprivileged and underrepresented.

The work of our Trust can change lives and our Board of Trustees is instrumental in setting out our vision and the philosophy in which we want to educate our young people. Many things can influence where children are when they leave our care at ages 11, 16 or 18 – the quality of teaching, levels of welfare, the quality of our learning environment both inside and outside the classroom and of course a passion for success. These will define how lives will be when our young people go on to further and higher education and the world of work. These things can be influenced by the work of our Trustees and we offer the opportunity to you to join us and make a real difference to lives.

At LST, we already have so many stories to tell of young people achieving success in the face of unbelievable adversity and we have much more work to do as each cohort of children joins us every September. We are setting high minimum standards across our Trust, we want to be the Trust of choice to parents and carers, we want our pupils to be proud of their schools and we want to be an employer of choice to attract the best staff to support us in delivering our goals.

Following recent retirements, we have vacancies for three Trustees to join the main Board and support us particularly with our Standards Committee and our Liaison Committee. Clearly, an interest to join our other Committees would also be welcome (Operations, Audit, Remuneration and Estates). We are particularly keen to attract people from the education and business worlds and would welcome interest from those who would help us to better reflect the diversity of our Communities in the membership of our Board.
