Springwell Learning Community are a Special Academy providing cross-phase education for children with emotional, social and mental health issues.

The Special Academy provides education for children with Special Educational Needs and the Alternative Academy provides education for children who are no longer in mainstream education. 

We are seeking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work in our new horticultural centre, which is part of our Alternative Provision site in Kendray.

As Farm Manager/Land Based Studies Tutor you will take the lead role in the development and smooth running of the school farm. You will be responsible for all elements including grounds and buildings maintenance, animal feed and welfare and lead on the development and delivery of an appropriate curriculum across all key stages.

Key aspects of the role:

  • Coordinate and develop activities, events and programmes aimed at increasing and supporting sustainable participation and learner engagement
  • Ensure the farm is kept in pristine condition, including the health and appearance of the animals
  • Ordering and receiving delivery of appropriate stock
  • Support the academy in its overall responsibility for the health and welfare of students in its care.
  • Flexibility to work weekends as appropriate.

In order to be the successful candidate you do not need to be a qualified teacher. However, you will be expected to lead on the development and delivery of appropriate programmes and activities across all key stages, to pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. It is desirable that you will have experience of working with children or young people with a range of needs, including but not solely, social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
