At Ryan Catholic College we provide a Catholic education for both boys and girls from Prep to Year 12 on two campuses (Prep to Year 4 and Years 5 to 12). What we are looking for

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Secondary Languages Teacher (Italian) to join our team. The successful applicant will have a thorough knowledge of the curriculum with an informed pedagogy.


The Role:

The Languages Teacher is responsible to the Principal through the relevant members of the College Leadership Team and the Faculty Leader

  • For the development and implementation for the designated areas of curriculum;
  • For the students, fellow employees and his/her health, safety and welfare;
  • For the maintenance any place or equipment designated or chosen for specific activities.

Responsibilities and teaching standards are aligned with the National Professional Standards commensurate with that of a Proficient Teacher.

About Ryan Catholic College

Ryan Catholic College is a co-educational, prep to Year 12 school located in Kirwan a suburb of Townsville, Queensland. The college is set across two campuses, with prep to Year 4 on one site and Year 5 to 12 on the other. The population of the school is approximately 1,900 students, supported by 147 teaching staff.

The college was established in 1979 and has used the inspirational story "Journey to Emmaus" from the Gospel of Luke to guide its journey in supporting children while developing their spirituality, intellect, physical and social capabilities and wisdom.

Ryan Catholic College has dedicated creative arts facilities, including the Mark MacKillop Centre and Emmaus Hall for the presentation and study of the performing arts. For the study of film, television and media, the college is equipped with a digital editing studio with latest software, cameras and recording equipment. The visual arts rooms are equipped for students to create with a range of material from ceramics to multimedia. The college also has a library on each campus, computer and science labs, and a range of sporting facilities.

Curriculum

Students in the junior and middle school undertake study of the Key Learning Areas of religious education, English, mathematics, science, technology, studies of society and the environment, physical education, the arts and languages other than English. In senior years, students are offered a challenging and diverse curriculum, with a wide range of subjects accredited by the Queensland Studies Authority, as well as opportunities to undertake nationally-accredited vocational courses.
