St Joseph’s is a Catholic Primary School located in O’Connor ACT. The school caters for students in Preschool - Year 6 and has an enrolment of 305 students in the primary school in 2022. Students attending our school come from a variety of backgrounds and nationalities. St Joseph's is a vibrant place of excellence, where students and staff work towards individual and community goals that promote growth and improvement for all. About the Role

An excellent and rewarding opportunity exists for an energetic and knowledgeable Languages Teacher to join our wonderful school.

We are excited to develop a new Languages program around any skill set a new educator can bring! To be successful in this role, you will have well-developed self-awareness and the personal capabilities of reflection on your own performance, with an aim to continue to grow and develop as a classroom practitioner. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the capacity to develop productive and caring relationships with students, parents and staff where the focus is on the learning and well-being of the student. Additionally, the successful applicants will have the appropriate qualifications and demonstrated experience to work individually and collaboratively, to maximise the learning outcomes for all students.

Essential Criteria

  • An understanding and commitment to the Church’s mission in Catholic Education and the capacity to contribute to the spiritual and community life of the school;

  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills so as to engage positively with colleagues, students and parents;

  • The capacity to be a proactive member of a professional learning community complying with the legal, administrative and professional requirements;

  • Classroom practices and organisational skills that create supportive and safe environments for all students, including meeting a variety of learning needs;

  • A thorough knowledge of the Australian Curriculum, with the ability to organise, select and design content for effective teaching and learning;

  • Successful planning and implementation of programs using High Impact Teaching Practices to fully engage students in their learning;

  • A comprehensive understanding of assessment and reporting strategies and the need to provide effective and timely feedback to parents and students.
