Job overview

About us

Plumstead Manor is a thriving and popular secondary school located in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. There has been a school on our site since 1913, with the first 105 years as a girls’ school. In response to local demand, we admitted our first mixed cohort in 2018 and are now fully co-educational.

We have a clear vision founded on excellence and justice, with the ambition to offer a world-class education to the young people and families of Greenwich.  Our recipe to achieve that is based on high-quality teaching and academic rigour, in a safe and happy environment.  Above all, we want our young people to leave school equipped with the powerful knowledge and necessary skills to change the world for the better.

About the role

As Lead Behaviour Support Manager you will be a key member of the Pastoral Team with responsibility for the daily management of interventions, the IER room and the On-call system for the removal of students from classrooms. You will be able to maintain high standards of discipline and behaviour for students whose conduct prevents them from accessing the curriculum. You will manage the Internal Exclusion room, ensuring that there is a programme designed to enable students to reflect on their behaviours and giving them the skills to make positive change. This will include contributing to the provision of mentoring, personalised interventions and the organisation of Restorative justice conferences as required. You will also manage the Deputy Lead Behaviour Support Manager and a team of Behaviour Support Workers.

A knowledge of good practice in educational inclusion, diversity and access is essential, as is an understanding of the requirements of the current Ofsted framework. You should be educated to at least Level 3 (A levels or Level 3 Vocational qualifications); a degree would be desirable.  You will also need to have experience of working with disadvantaged young people in Key Stages, 3 4 or 5 together with experience of using trauma-informed approaches and evidence-based intervention programmes or a willingness to undertake training. You will also need experience of managing and leading a team.

The post is for 35 hours per week, term time only plus 1 week (39 weeks per year).

We can offer you a supportive team, access to CPD courses and a commitment to staff wellbeing.
