Job overview
Our lead cover supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that students have a high-quality learning experience when their usual teacher is away from school.
You will manage the cover requirements to ensure that students learning is uninterrupted by staff absence, you will also manage classroom behaviour to ensure pupils stay on task and facilitate the activities that have been designed by teaching staff to ensure that students complete the work in an effective learning environment.

This role offers you the chance to step in and lead lessons in the absence of the regular teacher, primarily for KS3 and KS4 students, with occasional work at KS5. You’ll also have the opportunity to make a broader contribution across the Academy.
You will ensure a high standard of lesson cover is achieved and it is anticipated that in due course you will line manage a team Cover Supervisors.
This is a permanent, full-time role working 37 hours per week, on a term time only basis.

You will:
- Manage the cover requirement ensuring all lessons are cover as appropriate.
- Managing and organising cover for absent teaching staff
- Organising and providing induction and support for supply staff
- Managing the early staff absence line
- Liaising with agencies
- Supervise the students in KS3, KS4 and occasional KS5, working on pre-set learning activities in the absence of a teacher.
- Be caring and supportive and committed to achieving excellent results.
