This role is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about interdisciplinary teaching, have a passion for online education and are keen to make a positive impact on students' academic journeys.

About CATALYST:

CATALYST is a provider of fully online enrichment courses, designed and delivered by Winchester College educators. We work with global cohorts and deliver a unique interdisciplinary curriculum designed around AI, technology, philosophy, and economy.

Our Foundations courses are aimed at students aged 10 – 13 and our Horizons courses typically work with students aged 14 – 17. Our courses usually run during the holidays but for more details and information please visit our website under https://www.catalyst.winchestercollege.org/

We are specifically recruiting for our Foundations and Horizons age programmes running from the 12th – 16th February, with an opportunity for more programming across school holidays.

Remuneration is £1500 for delivery across the week (approx. five hours per day, Monday-Friday) and includes training and onboarding of the material led by the Academic Director in advance of programming. Appointment is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks – e.g. DBS, references etc.

Role Description:

You will be responsible for delivering content to global cohorts, demonstrating key competencies throughout the programmes:

  • Introduction and Motivation: Begin the day by introducing the session's agenda, welcoming students to the platform, and setting a positive and motivating tone for the day.
  • Educational Delivery: Deliver prescribed content, lead interactive workshops, and coordinate with other team members to ensure a seamless learning experience for students. Work closely with the project-work facilitator to ensure students’ work is completed to a high standard.
  • Team Leadership: Take charge of a student team, ensuring their active involvement, engagement, and academic success throughout the session.
  • Feedback and Quality Assurance: Document feedback and observations to continually enhance the quality and delivery of our educational product.
  • Student Assessment: Evaluate students based on our skills assessment framework and contribute to their final transcript.
  • Reporting: Maintain regular communication with the Academic Director, providing updates and reports as necessary.

Requirements:

  • IT Literacy: High proficiency in IT is essential. While we offer onboarding for our platforms, familiarity with interactive whiteboards, especially Miroboard, is a plus.
  • Online Education Experience: Candidates should have prior experience in online education, either tutoring or teaching, and possess strong presentational skills.
  • Physical Setup: A high-quality webcam and a well-lit environment are necessary for effective online interactions.
  • Interdisciplinary Interest: While we have a focus on humanities, we welcome subject specialists from all areas. A keen interest in interdisciplinary teaching is crucial.
  • Reading Requirements: Our modules delve into topics like AI, language acquisition, LLMs, philosophy, and economic studies. A reading list will be provided, and candidates are expected to familiarize themselves with the content.
