Job overview

At Dudley we are committed to becoming a Community Council, and within our People Directorate we are looking forward to a new era of collaboration, shaped through a series of alliances with all of our partners and communities. Our new Improvement Plan provides both the focus and the clearly defined objectives we are striving to achieve.

We are now looking for talented and self-motivated individuals, who have the potential to provide inspirational leadership, a strong personal commitment to improvement, robust performance management and a proven ability to positively manage change. You will have a relentless focus upon changing lives through delivering joined up services, which enable individuals to fulfil their potential, whilst strengthening our support to families.

The Lead for Education Outcomes is a key role for both the directorate and the council, recognising the critical importance of strengthening our partnership with our schools through our recently formed School Improvement Alliance.

The Alliance’s focus is on:

  • developing a shared leadership of and commitment to improving educational standards for all children and young people.
  • ‘closing the gap’ across the whole community with regard to achieving high levels of attainment for vulnerable groups.
  • ensuring that leadership and governance in schools are recognised as key partners in delivering vibrant and aspiring communities.
  • recognising schools as an integral part of a wider system led approach, which ensures the highest levels of intelligence, support and response on safeguarding and early help.

Reporting directly to the Strategic Director, you will be an integral part of the senior leadership team. The role offers the opportunity to focus on providing support and challenge to improve the quality and provision of education services across all schools and settings throughout the borough. You will need to demonstrate influencing and negotiating skills, self-assurance, motivation and the ability to build sustainable, positive and mutually beneficial relationships with a range of partners. You will be responsible for driving transformational initiatives to enhance school effectiveness, managing the delivery of some direct services within the school environment and brokering others, whilst working alongside colleagues to develop a whole council approach to lifelong learning.
