Start date: September 2024

Closing date: Wednesday 17th April with interviews held w/b 22nd April

West London Free School Primary is a member of Knowledge Schools Trust and is one of 34 schools nationally to be awarded English Hub status from the Department for Education. Our English Hub works with a large number of schools, overseen by the Hub Lead and Director of Primary Education. We are seeking to appoint a Lead Literacy Specialist to support this exciting work.

We are looking for an outstanding practitioner/leader who is experienced and passionate about the teaching of early reading and developing others. The role is based upon delivery of the DfE’s three priority areas:

  • Early language development
  • Age-appropriate phonics provision
  • Developing a love of reading

The role will involve:

  • Coordinating and developing the team of Literacy Specialists to oversee the impact of their support in schools
  • Maintaining links with a number of schools whilst supporting them to develop the teaching and learning of phonics and early reading
  • Supporting schools with writing action plans, auditing their provision and implementing rapid change
  • Liaising with the Hub leadership team to write reports and collate the information needed to meet DfE submission deadlines
  • Maintaining communication with other English Hubs and across Knowledge Schools Trust Primaries
  • Where appropriate, coordinating and delivering CPD to schools

While travel to the Hub in West London will sometimes be required, this role will largely be carried out in schools across the Hub catchment area and therefore candidates based across this area are welcome to apply
