Job overview

The School would like to appoint an intelligent, informed and dedicated Lead Maths Teacher who will make a significant and sustained contribution to the School's provision for students and development of staff.  A secondary subject, computing in particular would be an advantage.

The post will take effect from 1 September 2021.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the SLT Curriculum Lead to enable high quality implementation of the Maths curriculum through high quality teaching and robust tracking of data.
  • Monitoring and adapting the curriculum and making sure it is appropriate for the needs of each current cohort.
  • Work with Maths teachers to monitor, evaluate and plan the most effective provision to support students’ progress, informed by meaningful data.
  • Work with Maths Teachers to maintain effective assessment for learning, including reporting to parents.
  • Make innovative and meaningful use of technology to enable continuous school-wide focus on students’ progress and attainment, using a range of appropriate data and benchmarks (including use of Classroom Monitor).
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders as appropriate to the post.
  • A notable priority in 2021/22 will be supporting students and staff following the disruption of 2020 and 2021 along with performance management responsibilities.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will:

  • have a successful record of positive, sustained contribution to school improvement, notably in Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • have experience and success in enabling progress and attainment for students with SEN, notably Developmental Language Disorder
  • have strategic and pragmatic, implementable ideas for the School’s continued success
  • be an excellent teacher who can inspire others to be excellent in the profession
  • take an active interest in how education research can inform practice in a special school
  • have experience of bringing others with them through change and challenge
  • have the ability to take the long-view while attending to important detail
  • have experience in effective team-working at Department level, including managing a demanding workload and many priorities
  • have high expectations and ambition for themselves and the School
  • be committed to the vision and values of the School
  • have the dynamism, drive and can-do attitude expected of St Marylebone Bridge leaders
  • be able to fulfil the responsibilities associated with being a Lead Teacher
  • Experience of delivering high quality lessons to a range of levels (Entry level, Functional Skills and GCSE Maths)
