We require a Resistant Materials Lead to work with students with moderate and complex learning difficulties.

Salary information: MPR; £29,915 - £41,136 per annum + TLR2a; £2,873 (UPR considered depending on experience).

Meadow High is a successful Special School for children with Complex and Moderate Learning difficulties, with autism (currently 256 on roll). Our success has been highlighted in all our Ofsted inspections.   

We are seeking an enthusiastic teacher who embraces the school’s vision to enable and empower our pupils with lifelong skills and enable as many as possible enter the world of work.                                                                                                                                                                          

Whilst experience in a special school is desirable it is not essential. We are looking for someone with the ability and drive to ensure that each pupil gets the maximum benefit from their educational placement. Applicants from mainstream or SEN backgrounds are welcome but all will need to demonstrate a clear understanding of SEN and how this might impact on the technology curriculum. 

We are looking for applicants who hold Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent but may be willing to consider unqualified teachers who are able and willing to gain QTS, this would be for the role of a Resistant Materials teacher and not a Resistant Materials Lead. The salary would be UQ pay range and would be subject to an alternative job description.

In line with government policy priority will be given to candidates with QTS. Candidates with UPS will need to demonstrate how they could continue to offer a whole school impact.

The successful candidate will be required to have or be able to obtain any specific resistant materials qualification including use of specific equipment and safety requirements.

The successful applicant will also be a form tutor to one group and will be required to write and conduct Annual Reviews of their tutor groups EHCPs.

We wish to appoint candidates with:

  • An interest in supporting pupils with SEN to fully reach their learning and life potential (including at exam level eg City and Guilds) 
  • Someone who will keep our pupil’s safe 
  • An ability to adapt teaching and SoW to meet the needs of pupils with diverse needs including cognitive delays and physical challenges.
  • A team player willing to support and work across the school
  • The ability to use a wide range of communication techniques (PECS, Signalong etc)
  • Good organisational skills
  • A highly structured approach to teaching suited to the needs of pupils with ASD
  • The ability to plan and teach across a range of subjects- due to the size and nature of the school the successful candidate will need to teacher additional subjects eg English, Maths and/or PHSCE
