Harborne Academy is the first unique specialist Health and Science Academy to be formed in Birmingham. Our facilities are state-of-the-art having opened in 2014 and include the latest Samsung Technology through our new Samsung Digital Academy for Teachers. Through our sponsor – Birmingham Metropolitan College, we have strong links with further and higher education routes.
Situated conveniently close to the centre of Birmingham in the thriving suburb of Harborne, we are an 11-19 academy purpose built to enable our students to study in a modern environment and for every child to achieve their full potential. To help us to achieve this aim, we are looking to appoint an innovative and inspirational English specialist to take on the role of Lead Practitioner to ensure students achieve their true capability.
From Easter, we are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, outstanding practitioner to join the extended leadership team to improve standards in teaching and learning. We are keen to consider applications from ambitious and successful English teachers looking to develop their career and from English specialists currently in a senior role (Head of department or similar) with a track-record of high achievement and innovative practice.
If successful, you will help boost teaching and learning within English and will provide strong strategic leadership for raising achievement as well as taking responsibility for driving whole school literacy standards.
You must possess professionalism, enthusiasm, excellent teaching skills, the ability to work collaboratively with more senior team members as well as strong coaching skills and a keen desire share ideas and improve standards to make a real difference.
You will need the drive to bring professionalism and enthusiasm to the range of English courses offered. A flexible attitude towards teaching in the department and an appetite for involvement in developmental work is essential.
