Responsible to: Head of Department

We are looking for an outstanding practitioner who has the proven ability to lead by example and has the expertise to coach, mentor, inspire and motivate others in delivering high quality teaching and learning to young people engaged in the study of English. You will play a key part in raising the standard of English teaching and learning both within the Department and across our school through your exemplary quality of teaching and by supporting the professional development and training of colleagues.

You will have excellent communication skills and be approachable whether dealing with learners, parents or colleagues. You will need experience in observing and evaluating teaching quality and providing feedback. Just as importantly, you will share our passion of helping every learner achieve their potential in English.  If you have a focus on raising student attainment and a passion for English, and are looking to work in an environment that values the learning of students, we would welcome an application from you.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Take the leading role in supporting the continued improvement of effective teaching and learning in the English department and across the College.
  • Working alongside the subject leader and as a member of the Teaching and Learning Team to develop the use of coaching and mentoring techniques and styles to develop teaching practice of all staff.
  • Contribute to Teaching and Learning CPD within the College.
  • Liaise with partner schools within the MAT to provide support for staff and curriculum opportunities for students.
  • Analyse and interpret relevant data, research and other documentation to inform future practice, expectations and teaching methods.
