Marshalls Park Academy is seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic English Teacher to join our Lead Practitioner team. The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner who is highly motivated and have a real passion for English and for developing the subject and the practice of colleagues. The Lead Practitioner Team form the backbone of the teaching and learning development work in the school and are well supported by both an experienced Deputy Headteacher and Curriculum Leader. All Lead Practitioners have responsibilities both within and beyond their department and therefore the role provides outstanding professional development opportunities as well as providing an excellent opportunity for an ambitious colleague to develop their leadership skills further.

Marshalls Park Academy is a vibrant, over-subscribed, mixed secondary school of 11-16 year olds. Situated in Romford, in the London Borough of Havering, we currently have 1200 students on roll. Having rapidly expanded, we now accept 240 spaces into our Year 7 cohort. The school has an excellent reputation within the local community, which is enhanced every year with our ever-improving academic performance and widening student achievements.

About Marshalls Park Academy

Marshalls Park School is a co-educational, non-denominational, comprehensive secondary school in Romford, Essex. There are 845 students on the school roll, aged 11-16. 

Opened in 1936 as Pettits Senior Council School, Marshalls Park was enlarged in 2000 and moved to a combined site, with an opening ceremony overseen by MP David Blunkett.

Values and vision

The secondary school's long-standing mission is to provide all students with "roots and wings". These are the roots of an academic education grounded in literacy and numeracy, and the wings of self-confidence and self-esteem that allow them to flourish in both the local community and modern world.

Marshalls Park School values its status as a performing arts college and a specialised dance studio was opened in 2010. The work of the drama department is aimed at providing students with opportunities to participate in high-quality, rich and varied experiences both inside and outside the classroom. Students study a variety of scripts, texts and poems throughout their drama education at Marshalls Park.
