Lead Practitioner for English

Required for September 2024, we are seeking to appoint an innovative teacher to join our English team as Lead Practitioner. You will be an exceptional practitioner, who sets high expectations for the English team. You will have ambition, drive and energy and want the very best standards and outcomes for our St Michael's students. The successful candidate will join a team of highly committed staff and will be able to teach across the ability and age range, including A level. 

We are looking for candidates who:

·       Can be a visible and credible middle leader who models good practice and Quality First Teaching

·       Will work with the Curriculum Leader for English and Trust Quality Assurance Lead to ensure there are robust quality assurance activities that shape and inform the department improvement plan

·       Can model and lead the improvement of teaching strategies to staff at St Michael’s High particularly within the English Faculty which impact significantly on pupil progress.

·       Can plan and deliver a range of challenging and outstanding lessons, to inspire students and develop their love for the subject

·       Encourage students, to achieve to the best of their ability

·       Can inspire, motivate, challenge and support all students to achieve and excel

·       Have the highest expectations of themselves and others; being open to new ideas and challenge

·       Will disseminate relevant pedagogical knowledge and subject specific expertise

St Michael's Church of England High School is a mixed, non-selective, Church of England secondary school with sixth form in Liverpool, serving students from the age of 11-18. The secondary school, situated in Crosby has approximately 690 students on roll.
