The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring leader to make an impact on a key area of the curriculum working with both the Head of Faculty and the Senior Team. The role is ideally suited to an outstanding practitioner who can inspire students in their study of maths at all key stages and who can support and develop the quality and consistency of instruction and curriculum innovation both in maths and potentially across the school.

Lead practitioners are outstanding practitioners who secure the excellent progress of students within their own classrooms and in those of colleagues through the development of impactful teaching strategies. As a lead practitioner, the successful candidate will spread expertise of teaching maths using engaging pedagogies across the department, developing resources, strategies and techniques and using coaching, mentoring, modelling and team teaching as appropriate.

Maths is a popular subject at Shenfield High School with both maths and further maths at A level in addition to GCSE further maths and GCSE statistics at KS4 from September 2024.

Shenfield High School is a co-educational, non-denominational 11-18 secondary school located in Brentwood, Essex. At its most recent inspection there were 1,145 students aged 11-18 on the school roll, 350 of whom studied in the sixth form. The area of Shenfield has a population of 5,500 and is serviced by a station on the Liverpool Street Line, which will be the final stop on the Crossrail Elizabeth Line. 

Shenfield High School was opened in 1962 and converted to academy status in 2012. 

The school is underpinned by its philosophy of "Learning for Life" and promotes Learning, Respoect, Responsibility, Security, community & Success as its key values.
