An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious, forward thinking practitioner to play a key role in shaping the teaching and learning of English to shape the signature pedagogy of the department moving forward. The English department is dynamic and we seek applications of similarly driven colleagues. 

This post would suit either an experienced Middle Leader or an ambitious, aspiring teacher with an outstanding, proven record in the classroom.  Experience of working with the SLT, shaping whole school policy regarding teaching and learning is a possibility for a suitable candidate.

You will have the vision and expertise to work alongside our Senior Curriculum Leader for English and the team to strengthen existing provision, and the ability to inspire students and secure outstanding progress and attainment. You will have the skills to develop existing outstanding teachers and to nurture newly qualified teachers whilst being a dedicated lifelong learner yourself.  The successful candidate will coordinate with outside agencies such as PiXL, Cheshire Vale Teaching Alliance and the School Support Programme to ensure that pedagogy at The Whitby High School is current, engaging and effective.  

The Whitby High School is a successful 11-18 secondary school with a strong focus on learning in all aspects of its work. There are 1600 students on roll, including a thriving Sixth Form. The school has extremely high aspirations for all staff and students and has a very positive attitude to change.
