Job overview

As the Lead Practitioner of Science at PRS, you will not only be an outstanding practitioner in your field, but you will have the ability to lead and develop an exceptional and friendly team of specialists. Together with our Head of Science, you will ensure the school addresses and meets strategic priorities and will be at the forefront of implementing and evaluating teaching and learning within the academy by coaching colleagues and ensuring they deliver high quality teaching and learning. Further, as part of the school’s professional development team, you will have opportunities to lead whole school and departmental INSET/CPD training.

This is an amazing opportunity for an individual who is passionate about science and is driven to not only secure outstanding progress for students, but also to develop and deliver good practice amongst other members of staff, that will ultimately improve the quality of teaching and learning throughout the department.

As an exceptional practitioner of science and team leader, you will play a pivotal role in continuing our drive towards outstanding outcomes for all students and you will have a strong desire to make a real difference for young people. If you enjoy a challenge and would like to develop your career further, please apply.

To succeed, you will need a commitment to helping students achieve, as well as the desire to motivate and inspire students. Patience and a really good sense of humour are also vitally essential! Importantly, our new colleague will also wish to become part of the team that ensures all of our children 'Enjoy & Achieve'!

You will have the opportunity to work in a school that firmly believes in promoting an environment that nurtures and develops our students in a friendly and supportive setting: this is the PRS way and we also want you to feel that you are part of the 'PRS family'. You will benefit from a vast support network from senior leaders and other teachers within the school and we can offer you excellent CPD opportunities, a school laptop and use of our new multi-million pound Sports Centre. Our facilities are developing all the time and we recently launched a new Sixth Form independent study area and Learning Resource Centre, with the expectation of developing further areas of the school in the near future. We are also proud to work with parents who are supportive of our school aims, ethos, vision and values.
