Lead Practitioner in Science

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly-motivated and experienced classroom practitioner to join our dynamic and successful team. The post offers an exciting opportunity to work across two of our state of the art schools. The Telford Langley and The Telford Park Schools have a shared leadership team categorised as ‘Good’ by Ofsted due to the rapid improvements seen over time and during inspections.

Our ethos of ‘Ensuring Excellence’ is at the forefront of everything that we do. The successful candidate will be a knowledgeable and dedicated teacher who will support our subject leaders/Directors of Learning in raising standards of teaching and learning across the science department and other learning areas across the schools.

The overarching purpose of the Lead Practitioners is to raise standards and develop teaching and learning, ensuring that the aims of the Community Academies Trust are effectively translated into high quality classroom practice both within the subject and in general. The Lead Practitioners are a team of driven and ambitious teachers who work collaboratively to drive up standards and develop themselves professionally through the extensive CPD opportunities afforded to them.

Our belief is that every child really does matter and that all of our students should feel engaged, challenged and supported in an environment where they can experience success and enjoy their learning.

The successful candidate must have:

•  The ability to teach science up to KS4,

•  The capacity to work collaboratively as part of a developing team,

•  The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines,

•  Energy, enthusiasm and the ability to motivate others,

•  A passion for their subject that drives them to help pupils achieve their very best.

We will offer you:

•  An extensive CPD programme to nurture and develop your talents at all levels,

•  A professional, hard-working and supportive team that works together to create a    welcoming, vibrant learning culture inclusive to all,

• Access to a network of successful schools to share best practice and develop career prospects at the highest level.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share the commitment.

The post will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and all qualifications will be verified.

Closing date: Wednesday 18th April 2018 at 9.00am.

About the Employer

The Telford Langley School and The Telford Park School are sponsored by The Community Academies Trust (CAT) which has a track record of achieving and sustaining OUTSTANDING schools. Our approach is based on a fundamental belief that all young people have the talent and the potential to achieve more than they ever thought possible. Alongside the family of schools, the CAT has established a teaching school which ensures CPD opportunities are abundant for all, no matter what stage of your career you are at. The school is set in Telford, a bustling town centre nestled in the backdrop of the idyllic Shropshire countryside. There are a wealth of diverse attractions, both historical and contemporary, that attract visitors. The Ironbridge gorge is very popular, as are the picturesque market towns of Much Wenlock and Newport. Also, the excellent transport links mean that cities such as Birmingham and Manchester are in easy reach for further exploration.

Thank you for considering joining our community at The Telford Langley School.

At The Telford Langley School, we work hard to provide our pupils the very best education possible. Our ethos of ‘Ensuring Excellence’ is at the heart of everything we do. This extends to recruiting the highly effective staff that our pupils deserve. We place a strong emphasis on both high standards of education and personal development. To do this, we nurture and develop staff who work collaboratively and strive to be their professional best every day.

We want everyone in our community to achieve all they can whilst making a difference for those around them. Celebrating the successes of both pupils and staff is at the core of our day-to-day practice. We work hard to develop relationships and place a real focus on collaboration.

We are proud to serve our community. This means we draw young people from a wide catchment area. We have just over 1000 students in years 7 to 11. The main school building opened in 2012 and a new building was added in 2021. This means we have extensive, modern facilities as well as the most current technology to match this. Pupils and staff value this as it enriches the learning environment for all.

For our staff we offer a comprehensive induction and a peer coaching programme to adapt to the professional development goals of staff. We also operate an extensive network of sharing best practice not just in our school, but across our entire trust. We support, empower and challenge staff to make a real difference in raising standards and have many examples of staff that have progressed significantly in their career.

Our school is on a journey. We have the confidence and belief that we know where we are, what we have to do and where we want to be. Thank you for considering our school. If our vacancies and values match your skill set, we would be delighted to hear from you. Visits to our school are welcomed and encouraged so you can see for yourself our sense of purpose and community.
