Lead Practitioner MATHS

Fowey River Academy and the Adventure Learning Academies Trust is seeking to appoint an inspiring and enthusiastic Lead Practitioner to work closely with the Maths Faculty in supporting the Department in the next stage of its development. 

In addition, the Lead Practitioner will work with colleagues from all curriculum areas to develop numeracy across the academy in order to play a key role in raising teaching and learning standards. The extent of this leadership role within the Maths Faculty will be negotiated with the successful candidate and the salary will be commensurate with the agreed role and the successful candidate’s experience. 

Key to the role will be a passion for the leading and modelling of outstanding teaching skills, which contribute to excellent outcomes for students.  

The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner, who is able to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning, raising standards and ensuring pupil achievement is maximised. Coaching colleagues in developing their practice will be an important aspect of the role; we seek a leader who has the ability to foster a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere within the Department for both students and staff.

About Fowey River Academy

Fowey River Academy is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school situated in Fowey, Cornwall. There are approximately 684 students at the school, between the ages of 11-16.

Fowey River Academy was established in 1692 as Fowey Free School, opening to 30 pupils from low income families. The school has since been a boarding and grammar school throughout the years. In 2014, it received academy status, changing its name from Fowey Community College to Fowey River Academy.
