Lead Practitioner – Modern Foreign Languages & Differentiation

Leadership Scale L6-10

September 2018

Are you looking to join a Senior Leadership Team and have an impact on the quality of teaching and learning across a school? Are you keen to lead on raising the outcomes for pupils who study modern foreign languages and underachieving pupil groups, initially those categorised as SEN Support and Most Able?

The Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, well qualified and ambitious teacher to become a Lead Practitioner and join the Senior Leadership Team, in a vibrant and happy school, where staff members are committed to raising student attainment.  The purpose of the job is to ensure high quality teaching, learning and assessment in the school, which meets the needs of targeted groups of pupils, working as a member of the School’s Teaching and Learning Team. This job would ideally suit someone looking to become an Assistant Headteacher to lead on teaching and learning. Our commitment at St Cuthbert Mayne School is to become a ‘centre of excellence for teaching and learning’. This post will be integral to this aim.

St Cuthbert Mayne is a successful school serving the Christian community over a wide area of South Devon. The current number of students on roll is 910, including 138 students in the Sixth Form. We are a Joint Catholic and Church of England School with approximately half of our students being Catholic, and the remainder either Church of England or another Christian denomination. However, a considerable number of students do not practise their faith outside school.

The latest Ofsted Inspection in November 2016 graded the school to be good, in every category. The statutory inspection of Anglican/Catholic Schools also conducted in November, graded the school to be good in all areas. Both reports can be found on the website.

The successful candidate will be able to teach Modern Foreign Languages, up to Key Stage 5.

For further information, an application form or information pack please contact Mrs Webb julie.webb@stcm.torbay.sch.uk and visit www.st-cuthbertmayne.co.uk for more information about the school.

Closing date: 26 March 2018, 10am

Interviews: W/B: 16 April 2018

STCM is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.

The successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check, references and other employment checks.
