Job overview

Lead Practitioner of Mathematics

Salary is negotiable according to the experience of the successful candidate

Required for September 2018, a well-qualified and successful classroom practitioner to teach Mathematics.  We are looking for an experienced and motivated colleague who could add value to our already successful maths team. This is a great opportunity to join a successful Maths department in a school where results in both attainment and progress terms are very strong; we sit comfortably above national averages in all of the new attainment measures. In 2017 74% of students achieved a GCSE pass in Maths. Maths is a very popular subject in our Sixth Form and our 2017 ALPS score for the subject was ‘Outstanding’. In March 2018 we received an OFSTED inspection and were judged to be ‘Good’ in all areas.

This is a great time to join our school as we have recently established a multi-academy trust with three of our feeder primary schools (The Minerva Learning Trust) and there will be opportunities to work closely with these schools. The department has worked with Edgehill University to explore variation and how this can be used to support students learning. We have developed elements of mastery within the curriculum and looking to further develop concrete and visual methods. As a Lead Practitioner you would be at the forefront of developing and sharing best practice is maths learning and teaching. We are a member of the Pixl Club, work with the Jurassic Coast Alliance and have several staff involved in national initiatives. We are an outwardly facing school in a beautiful part of the country, if you watched ‘Broadchurch’ then you already know what our lovely coastline looks like.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. If you are a colleague who is less experienced and do not feel ready to take on a Lead Practitioner role at this current time then we would still like to hear from you. It could be that with further support and experience, you could make the transition at a later date. If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the Headteacher, David Herbert, herbertd@colfox.doret.sch.uk or 01308 422291. Visits to the school are also warmly accepted.

An application form and details can also be downloaded from either the school website: www.colfox.org or you can apply online at: www.dorsetforyou.com/jobs. Completed application forms should be emailed to the Headteacher’s PA, Amanda Ackerman a.ackerman@colfox.dorset.sch.uk
