Job overview

A Lead Practitioner in an inspirational teacher for pupils and colleagues alike, with the track record to prove it. They are someone who is ambitious and highly motivated to lead others. The Lead Practitioner will do everything possible to raise the quality of teaching and learning in Science and in the wider school.

The science department is a highly successful one, making a significant contribution to ebacc progress scores that are consistently significantly above the national average. We would expect the successful candidate to teach all Science disciplines at Key Stage 3 and KS4 Combined Science, plus sperate science and A level or BTEC level 3 applied science at KS5. We also offer GCSE and A level Psychology within the Science department.

The word ‘outstanding’ appears a lot in advertisements for teachers – but at Swanshurst School, it means more. Swanshurst is an ‘Outstanding School’ for girls with 1830 students on roll aged 11-19 years.  We offer excellent support and CPD for staff at all stages of their career.

In our latest inspection, Ofsted found pupils at Swanshurst to be “happy, well cared for and that they secure excellent academic and personal outcomes” they described the girls as “polite, respectful and courteous”.  Needless to say, we are incredibly proud of them and of all our staff who contribute to the “purposeful learning culture within the school that characterises the work of staff and pupils”

How have we achieved our current strengths? Quite simply, we employ teachers who are as ambitious, passionate and dedicated as we are. These amazing people work hard to ensure that our pupils make the best progress they possibly can. Whether they are the most able or those requiring additional support, every child deserves nothing less than the very best teaching.

Not surprisingly, there’s a real buzz about our school. If you would like to be part of it – and teach children who genuinely want to learn – we would love to hear from you.
