Job overview

Are you a highly effective teacher of Science looking to share your skills and expertise with others?

Lode Heath School is looking for a highly effective and experienced secondary school teacher to join our committed team as a Lead Practitioner of Science. This is a leading and highly visible role which will aim to ensure the highest standards of achievement for our students whilst leading on Quality First Teaching.

We are keen to appoint someone who enjoys inspiring students through their passion for Science, has excitement and drive for learning and teaching, and a strong desire to make a difference to student achievement. You will be instrumental in helping us to continue the new and exciting improvements being introduced by our staff under the leadership of our newly-appointed Associate Headteacher. In return, we will provide support through mentoring and the provision of ongoing CPD and training and the opportunity to share best practice across our Multi-Academy Trust.

Lode Heath School is highly ambitious and strives to ensure the very best standards in education for its students and understands that Science is an essential part of providing all-round education. Our dedicated and hard-working team in this department values the importance of high-quality learning. You will become an integral part of the team to constantly push and improve the learning experiences within Science, so all our students achieve very well.

As a Lead Practitioner, you will be pivotal in redefining what is possible for the students within our care. You will be excellent in your classroom practice and be able to inspire others to be of a similar calibre. We are not a competitive school of individual superstars; we are a fiercely determined collective group of staff who will always work together to ensure the best outcomes for the students. As a middle-leader, you will also have an opportunity to contribute on an area of whole-school responsibility to help develop you in your next step to a senior leadership team.

In terms of the broader school, we recognise that teaching is a demanding career and it is our aim to make sure that staff who have chosen to join the profession are as well supported as they can be. We work together to keep teaching, learning and assessment at the heart of everything that we do and so we have many centralised systems and utilise our talented support staff team to make sure that teachers are as free as possible to do the three things that matter most: mark, plan and teach.

Lode Heath School is a member of the Arden Multi-Academy Trust where we are committed in working together to help and enrich the experiences of all within the AMAT family; we have a clear vision to generate self-belief, self-worth, esteem and confidence in our young people who can then display the ambition and aspiration in achieving high educational outcomes.

An informal visit to the school is a great way to discover Lode Heath for yourself. Just contact Miss O’Sullivan at the email address below to arrange a date.

Lode Heath School is a caring and nurturing learning community with tolerance, respect and responsibility at its core. We support each other, we value each other as individuals and we have the highest expectations of each other.

Our aim is to educate the whole person: to help every student, irrespective of their background or abilities, to build the skills, confidence and independence they need to thrive in higher education or the workplace. That means promoting a love of learning that will last a lifetime. And we have high aspirations for our staff too;  we too are lifelong learners and, through a warm and collaborative approach, we aim to support and challenge each other to be reflective and to push ourselves to provide our students with the very best that we can.

Key here is our diverse curriculum - a wide and varied mix of subjects that engages, stimulates, challenges and stretches young minds, encouraging them to explore and discover. Beyond developing their understanding and knowledge of subjects themselves, we give our students the opportunity to build all-important life skills as part of the curriculum. Our Life Ready Days also offer a wide range of inspiring experiences including team building with the army entrepreneurial workshops, volunteering and many more.  When it comes to extra-curricular activities, there really is something for everyone including theatre visits and sports tours to expeditions around the world, workplace experiences and regular dance, drama and music shows to name but a few. There’s a wide range of school clubs too, as well as volunteering opportunities in the local community and here at the school itself. We welcome any new opportunities to widen our already extensive offer.

The AMAT also provides opportunities for sharing best practice and progression routes as we look to identify and nurture staff talent and recruit from within.
