We are looking for an exceptional Product Design and or Engineering teacher to join our Academy as a Lead Practitioner of Product Design/Engineering. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and dynamic teacher to join a STEM and Media focused school on the next stage of its journey.


Brook 6th Form & Academy is a is a small school of KS4 and KS5 students, housed in an impressive new building in Barking and Dagenham, part of the Business and Science Park, which is soon to be joined by the exciting new Eastbrook film studio complex. The school has excellent transport links, with Dagenham East tube station a short walk away.


The school has been on a journey of improvement and is now an excellent provision with a stable staff of subject specialists. Students study predominantly STEM subjects, with the recent introduction of Media. The school has excellent levels of attendance, with a focused and aspirational student body. In anticipation of further growth in student numbers, we are now looking to appoint a Lead Practitioner for Product Design/Engineering.


Brook 6th Form & Academy is well resourced with new science laboratories and extensive engineering workshop facilities that enable staff to deliver Quality First teaching to our students through practical activities, as well as traditional classroom based pedagogy. We are now embarking on the next phrase of our development with the introduction of the T-Level in Engineering in KS5, and the building of a Mechatronics workshop to add to our already extensive facilities. This is an exciting time to be joining the school, with its traditional STEM based subjects moving to excellent, and the broadening of the curriculum to include Media in response to local employment needs.


This is an opportunity for a hard-working professional to work with students who have are passionate about engineering. There are currently three Level 3 engineering teaching groups in Year 12 and one Level 2 teaching group in Year 12. All Engineering courses include Product Design units. You will be working in a supportive, nurturing culture that sets high expectations of educational outcome whilst supporting students to fulfil their academic potential and achieve their goals of a STEM or Media destination.
