Are you ready to take your teaching career to the next level? As Lead Practitioner in Science, you’ll be at the forefront of driving excellence across the academy, shaping exceptional teaching and learning, and inspiring both students and staff. You'll play a key role in translating our academy’s vision into vibrant, engaging science lessons that make a real difference.

In this exciting role, you’ll develop and implement innovative strategies for science teaching, mentor colleagues, and create a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement. You'll also have the chance to lead and shape the science curriculum while ensuring that our students are challenged and inspired to reach their full potential.

This is a full-time, permanent role with a leadership salary scale, based on experience.

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust


As of 1st September 2024, our Trust comprises 33 geographically organised academies (17 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating more than 24,000 students and employing 4,000 talented staff. Currently, 16 of our academies are considered to be “Outstanding” which is 53% of those which have been inspected whilst part of the Trust. The Trust is establishing three ‘clusters’ of academies: LAT Central; LAT West; LAT North. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training organisations, a large teaching school hub and is an accredited apprenticeship provider. Our future plans are found in our Vision 2030 document available on our website.

Our mission

Leigh Academy Minster’s students will be the embodiment of ‘The Minster Way’ through a zero-tolerance approach to bullying and negative behaviours, ensuring a  calm, purposeful learning environment that provides exceptional personal development opportunities.

The academy will provide all students with a high-quality academic education through the internationally recognised International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum in Key Stage 3, as well as national academic and vocational qualifications in Key Stages 4 and 5.

Students will receive excellent pastoral care through Leigh Academies Trust’s highly effective small school model, with a dedicated team of leaders and specialists supporting all aspects of a child’s education at the academy.

Expert teachers will educate students across our subject-based curriculum from year 7 onwards in a high-quality classroom environment. Lessons will be grounded in the principles of highly effective teaching, informed by cutting-edge pedagogical research, ensuring students receive consistent and adaptable teaching to facilitate rapid academic progress.

Featuring an array of exceptional facilities, spaces, and educational resources, the academy will equip students with a free Chromebook laptop to access the integrated digital curriculum. The physical spaces and resources will provide students with the opportunity to engage in a wide range of extra-curricular activities to support their interests outside the classroom.
