Newbury Park Primary School is seeking to appoint an exceptional and ambitious classroom practitioner to join our Senior Leadership Team as a Lead Practitioner for Teaching and Learning. The successful candidate will model exemplary classroom practice, lead a subject and a phase, and play a key role in driving whole school improvement.
This is a key strategic role for a highly effective teacher who is ready to influence practice beyond their own classroom, while remaining firmly rooted in day-to-day teaching.
This is a Lead Practitioner post paid on the Lead Practitioner pay range, with inclusion in the school's Senior Leadership Team.
Salary: Lead Practitioner Scale
Contract: Permanent or Fixed Term (by agreement)
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, reflective practitioner who is passionate about teaching and learning and ready to extend their impact beyond their own classroom. The successful candidate will work closely with senior and middle leaders to strengthen pedagogy, support colleagues, and contribute strategically to the continued development of the school.

The Role
As a Lead Practitioner, you will:
Lead a designated phase, which will be either:
Nursery and Reception
Years 3 and 4
Years 5 and 6
You will teach within the phase you lead, ensuring strong alignment between classroom practice and leadership.
Model consistently high-quality teaching and learning to raise outcomes across the school
Teach four days per week within your phase
Have one day per week dedicated to leadership responsibilities
Lead a subject area and a phase, ensuring strong curriculum design, consistency and high standards
Coach, mentor and support teachers, including ECTs and trainees, through professional dialogue and modelling best practice
Contribute to school improvement priorities and work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team, playing a central role in driving high standards in teaching and learning, supporting staff development, and contributing to whole-school improvement.

Is an exceptional classroom practitioner with a proven track record of impact
Has experience in leading a subject and supporting phase-level improvement
Has the credibility and interpersonal skills to influence practice and inspire others
Is committed to inclusion and securing strong outcomes for all pupils, including SEND, EAL, Pupil Premium and higher attainers
Is reflective, collaborative and driven by continuous improvement
Role / Area of Experience
