Job overview

Lead Practitioner - Science

Salary scale: Lead Practitioner Range  - point 6-10

Start date  - 1st January 2022 onwards.

The Midland Academies Trust are looking for a Lead Practitioner in Science to lead the further development of the curriculum, pedagogy and practice in English, Maths and Science across our Trust.

Our four academies work together as a single shared subject community with a common curriculum written and resourced by our staff. As Lead Practitioner, you will play a leading role in the work of this community with a focus on driving forward subject pedagogy, curriculum development and delivery across our Trust.

This is a new role for our Trust and reflects our commitment to an ambitious, knowledge-rich curriculum and the value we place on continually developing the subject expertise of our staff. We are looking for someone who wishes to influence, shape and direct the work of our subject community whilst also retaining a strong foundation in the classroom.

This is a practical, hands on role and it is vital that our Lead Practitioners are serving teachers who retain a reduced teaching commitment and can share examples, trial approaches and lead from their own practice.

If you are an experienced teacher with a passion for your subject, a commitment to delivering high quality teaching and the experience, vision and skills to support others in delivering exemplary curriculum provision across our academies, we would encourage you to  apply.

This is an important role for us, and we welcome phone calls or visits to our academies prior to application. To arrange a visit, please email matrecruitment@midlandat.co.uk

About the Trust

The Midland Academies Trust comprises four academies - Heath Lane Academy in South Leicestershire and George Eliot School, The Nuneaton Academy and Hartshill School in North Warwickshire.

We regard ourselves as a family of schools - our staff work in close collaboration, sharing workload and learning from each other. As a family, we have agreed and common ways of working in many areas, driven by shared values and developed in partnership with our staff.

We are a local Trust - our academies are located a short drive from each other, and we proudly serve the communities of Nuneaton, Hartshill and Earl Shilton, educating over 3000 young people each year.

Our staff are the single greatest resource we have in our mission of creating successful futures for all the pupils in our care.

We place high value on subject expertise and continual professional development. This academic year, our teaching staff will receive over 40 hours of subject specific professional development, including a commitment to all staff experiencing instructional coaching.

We work hard to reduce staff workload and our academies have been awarded the Fair Workload Charter recognising our innovative work in this area.

Only Midland Academy Trust applications forms will be accepted. For details of this and other career opportunities visit our website: https://www.midlandat.co.uk/vacancies

Completed application forms should be returned to MATrecruitment@midlandat.co.uk no later than noon on 29th November 2021
