About Ormiston Courtyard Academy

Ormiston Courtyard Academy supports up to 16 learners who experience difficulties with their learning and behaviour in mainstream school. Eight of the places are for learners with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan and eight for learners who are either at risk of being permanently excluded or have been permanently excluded. The great majority of learners have a history of disruptive education in mainstream schools with frequent fixed term exclusions.

We follow the national curriculum and our learners have a range of extracurricular activities to enhance their learning. We pride ourselves on working within the Behaviour for Learning framework which enables learners to develop the skills they need to be engaged, motivated and successful. The framework is based on the relationship with self, others and curriculum, and promotes positive learning behaviours inside and outside the classroom.

We have highly trained and experienced staff who work effectively to provide a personalised curriculum which meets the needs of all our learners. Achievement, teaching and behaviour is outstanding and all our learners learn extremely well and make excellent progress. Ormiston Courtyard Academy works closely with primary schools so that wherever possible learners can return to mainstream school. We have a strong partnership with parents and carers to provide a safe, successful and enjoyable place where learners gain the skills and confidence for success.

Ormiston Courtyard Academy was rated outstanding in all areas by Ofsted, March 2015.
