Thomas Tallis is a flourishing and popular school situated in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. We currently have over 2000 pupils on the school roll with around 800 students in our highly competitive sixth form. Thomas Tallis School is seeking to appoint a highly organised, professional and proactive Lead Receptionist to oversee the smooth and effective operation of our busy reception area. This is a key role within our administration team, acting as the first point of contact for students, parents, staff and visitors, and ensuring a welcoming, efficient and safe environment at all times.
You will lead a small team of reception staff, managing rotas, supporting colleagues and ensuring consistently high standards across all reception functions. The role also includes responsibility for coordinating day-to-day front-of-house operations and supporting a wide range of administrative processes.
As Lead Receptionist, you will take responsibility for leading and managing the reception team, ensuring the smooth and effective day-to-day running of the front-of-house service. You will provide a professional and welcoming first point of contact for all visitors, while managing the school’s main switchboard and responding to enquiries efficiently.
The role involves supporting key administrative processes such as attendance updates, visitor management and student services, while maintaining accurate records and ensuring safeguarding procedures are consistently followed. You will work closely with the Office Manager and the wider administrative team, contribute to key school events including open mornings and parents’ evenings, and ensure that the reception area reflects the school’s high standards and values at all times.

Has strong reception and administrative experience, ideally within a school environment
Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Can manage multiple priorities calmly and efficiently
Builds positive relationships with students, staff, parents and external agencies
Shows initiative, professionalism and a commitment to high standards
Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people

About Thomas Tallis School
Located in Kidbrooke, south-east London, Thomas Tallis School is a large co-educational secondary school providing places to pupils aged 11-18. The school was originally founded in 1971. In 2012 it moved into a brand-new purpose-built building on the site of a former airfield.
With capacity for around 2,000 students, Thomas Tallis is larger than the average secondary school. It operates a large sixth form, welcoming students who have come up through Thomas Tallis School, as well as pupils from other schools in the local area.
