Job overview

At Talbot Heath, we believe that nothing is beyond reach. We are an extraordinary school where girls are empowered to be curious, compassionate, and courageous, embodying our motto: Curious Minds, Generous Hearts, Adventurous Spirits. From the age of two, our girls begin a transformative journey that nurtures their integrity, compassion, and ambition—values rooted in our founder’s vision of Honour before Honours.

Our unique, girls-only environment allows young women to thrive, free from societal constraints, fostering an atmosphere where intellectual curiosity, emotional well-being, and personal growth are cultivated. With a reputation for innovative thinking and an interdisciplinary curriculum, Talbot Heath encourages girls to explore creativity and deep thinking in an exciting and different way of learning.

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Lead School Nurse to join our dedicated pastoral team at Talbot Heath School. This is a rewarding, term-time only position that plays a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our pupils. You will lead and coordinate a responsive, caring school nursing service, providing first aid, medical treatment, health advice, and education, while working closely with pupils, parents, staff, and external health professionals to ensure our pupils thrive.

While this post is ideally suited to a Registered General Nurse (RGN) who can fulfil the full scope of clinical responsibilities, we also welcome applications from experienced, non-registered nursing or healthcare professionals. In this case, clinical duties would be adapted appropriately: certain medical tasks, such as the administration of vaccinations and elements of complex medical care, would be arranged in partnership with the NHS or other appropriate healthcare providers to ensure the highest standards of care. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference within a supportive, collaborative school community.

The successful candidate will be:

● A caring and approachable professional, with a genuine commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of children and young people.
● An excellent communicator, able to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, staff, and external health professionals.
● Organised and proactive, with the ability to prioritise a busy workload and manage confidential information sensitively.
● Confident and calm under pressure, providing first aid and medical care with sound judgement and a reassuring manner.
● Flexible and collaborative, ready to adapt the service to meet the needs of the school community and work closely with colleagues and external agencies.

About Talbot Heath:

● A leading independent school in Dorset, offering girls aged 2–18 an outstanding education.
● Beautiful woodland campus located close to Dorset’s stunning coastline.
● Selective school with excellent academic results at both GCSE and A Level.
● Renowned for its strong pastoral care system where the well-being and happiness of each student is paramount.

Position: Permanent, term time only

Hours: 24 hours a week, working pattern flexible with second school nurse. Full details in job description.

Salary: RGN - £21 to £24 per hour

Non-registered - £14.50 to £17 per hour

Start Date: September 2025

Application Deadline: Wednesday 23rd July
